Catalogue containing drawings produced by Albert Oehlen from 1983 to 1986 and published by Galerie Borgmann-Capitain, Cologne, Germany, as well as a text by Martin Prinzhorn. The design of this catalogue, as well as the catalogue entitled ‘Eröffnungsaustellung’ [Inaugural Exhibition] published by Galerie Thomas in 1969, served as an inspiration for the design of ‘Obras recites’ [Recent Works] by Martin Kippenberger and Albert Oehlen, published by Galeria Juana de Aizpuru, Madrid in 1989.
“For art criticism, that old game of allocating form and content is always central. No matter how complex it might be, it ultimately always aims at a form of ‘understanding’ that presupposes such an endeavour as a meaningful allegory or metaphor. The art we are discussing here does not allow for these kinds of interpretative mechanisms.” — Martin Prinzhorn
