Photographs documenting life in a West London housing estate, alongside the artist’s observations of sounds described here by a single sentence. Displayed in couples, the photographs capture a section of a corridor or balcony together with a close-up of an object or a feature. Xerox printed and Japanese bound. Comes with an A4 folded insert.
Balcony is the thirteenth project for Imprint 93, a publication project by curator and artist, Matthew Higgs. From the mid-nineties onwards, Higgs regularly collaborated with artists to produce artists’ books and multiples. They were rarely available commercially and were instead distributed by mail to around 200 of Higgs’s closest friends and peers. The publications often used the cheapest materials available, such as grease-proof paper for dust jackets.
