Fax Art Project was a joint project between Akiyama’s class of Graphical Design Department at Tama Art University and Aartomaa’s and Piipo’s classes at University of Art and Design Helsinki. It was a method of carrying out a design class which had never been tried before. The class was carried out by using fax to exchange illustrations between the students in Tokyo and Helsinki.
From May 2nd till 30th 1997, an exhibition of Fax Art Project will take place at Oji Papershop Ginza, Tokyo to discuss the differences found in the students’ thoughts and sensitivities. In addition, we plan to carry on this new method of teaching and are looking forward to finding out many different ideas as well as forming friendship, world wide. — Takashi Akiyama
