Oldenbourg was a painter and sculptor who also organised performances and happenings. In October 1966, accompanied by French artist Ben, he went to Prague to present a series of happenings and a Fluxus concert. Oldenbourg gave his identity papers to a soldier who wanted to leave the country and was subsequently arrested for doing so. Written in a jail cell, this diary document reports on the fourteen months he spent in a Czechoslovakian prison.
