A poster announcing a demonstration to be held the day of Queen Beatrix coronation on April 30th, 1980 to protest against the housing shortage facing the country. Squatters fought against the Mobile Unit (ME) who were unable to prevent them from advancing to Dam Square and disrupting the ceremony in Nieuwe Kerk. This event is considered to be amongst the greatest disturbances to peace in the Netherlands. The poster depicts a crowbar, the symbol of the squatting movement, raised over the Royal Palace of Amsterdam. Kraak can also be translated as squatting.
