This photograph, part of a series, was used by Jean Sellem for the poster of the exhibition held at his gallery, the Galerie S:t Petri Archive of Experimental and Marginal Art, in Lund, Sweden, from 11 to 25 January 1978. In addition to sending 200 photographs for the need of the exhibition at the Galerie, P-Orridge added few additional photographs that he offered to Jean Sellem, this one being part of it.
“Although Throbbing Gristle took up most of P-Orridge and Cosey Fanni Tutti’s time, they were still being, as COUM, to take part in exhibitions and festivals around the world. For example in Lund, Sweden, the Galerie St. Petri Archive of Experimental and Marginal Art held an exhibition of photographs of COUM performances at the beginning of 1978. The photographs — two hundred 10” × 8” black and white prints — showed COUM in action from 1973 to 1977.” — Source : ‘Wreckers of Civilisation: The Story of COUM Transmissions & Throbbing Gristle’, edited by Simon Ford, p.8.8, Black Dog Publishing Limited, 1999.
