Published in 1972 by renowned Italian gallerist Gianenzo Sperone, ‘Having Been Done At. Having Been Done To / Essendo Stato Fatto A. Essendo Stato Fatto A’ is one of Lawrence Weiner’s earliest publications, presenting the artist’s textual works back-to-back and upside down in English and Italian. The book comprises twenty-four right-hand pages, each containing two English sentences, followed by an appendix and a final page with a single English sentence; the second half mirrors the same structure and content in Italian.
