This volume of essays is a celebration of Rasheed Araeen’s multifaceted artistic career. The essays, included in the publication, reflect on the impossibility of fixing the meaning of a body of work that continually offers new hermeneutic possibilities. On the other hand, they reflect on the historical, cultural and ideological factors by which Araeen, as an artistic subject, was challenged by the British art establishment in its discriminatory discourses, as well as his resistances to their limited vision. Includes contributors’ biographies.
